Neuroscience community project (fall 2025) by Lindsay Zheng, Alice Le & Allegra Panga
This project transforms student research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis into an accessible educational resource exploring the biology, genetics, diagnosis, treatment, and future of ALS research.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons, the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement. As these neurons degenerate, individuals can experience progressive muscle weakness as well as difficulties with speaking, swallowing and breathing. There is currently no cure, although treatment and multidisciplinary care can help manage symptoms and support quality of life.
