Girls in Med (GiM) is a youth-led organization dedicated to empowering and mentoring women with a passion for medicine. We strive to enrich and connect students to opportunities in the healthcare industry and combat the barrier for women in STEM-related fields.
Background
Our History
Girls in Med was founded on March 27th, 2022, by Claire Shin and Vani Singh, two ordinary high school students passionate about medicine. The organization aimed to provide younger students with an opportunity to explore topics in medicine, as there were very few accessible opportunities. With the support of friends and classmates, Girls in Med expanded locally and offered their first semester of classes in September 2022. Girls in Med has now become a supportive community of over 2000+ girls, empowering women in their academic pursuits.
Girls in Med hopes to continue expanding globally and offers its resources and community support to all women.
